25 years of learning
What does making the best of something really entail? In 1999, Bob Parlee chose to leave his storied career as a boat builder behind to answer that question. From day one he stated that he wanted to build the best bikes in the world, and he woke up every day trying to figure out what making the best meant.
A hard road
Trying to make “the best” is an easy thing to say but it’s a hard thing to do. The keyboard warrior critics will take shots at you, you will push too hard and have failures, you will struggle with suppliers who think you are too fussy and employees who don’t care as much as you do. You will come up with ideas that the world is not ready for and you will face imposter syndrome on a daily basis.
Always forward
Making the best is really hard. Bob was unique in that he never read the comments and never got bogged down when things got hard. Some coffee cups may have met their end at his hand and he may have used some colorful language for those who didn’t share his vision but he never stopped chasing his goal.
A masterpiece
We had the privilege of working hand in hand with Bob each day until his untimely death from cancer in late 2024. When we as a team decided to carry on with his work and vision, we wanted to build a bike to honor him and his vision.
The formula was always simple. Source the best materials. Give those materials to the most skilled people and give them time and space to make something beautiful. Then, stop at nothing to source the best components you can get your hands on.
Put that all together and you will have the best bicycle money can buy.
The Z-Zero GT 25th Anniversary Edition is our best and it is an homage to our founder, leader and friend, Bob Parlee.

Exceptional Is Just the Start
To celebrate 25 years of Parlee history and to honor Bob’s ethos, we took our all-new, ground-breaking Z-Zero GT and let the product and paint team go ahead with a singular, best of the best, cost is no object build. The result is one of the finest bicycles ever made.
We will make just 25 of these beautiful machines in late 2025. Each one will be meticulously custom made for the owner and we won’t ever make more of them.
With Bob’s spirit and his ethos in mind, we have gone around the world and identified the best partners for every single part on the bike.
Extraordinary Details
Anyone who spent time with Bob knew he was never far from a pad of paper and a pencil and in those pads, you would see lovely concept illustrations and sketches. In all of his sketches, you would see elegant hatching marks to highlight or shadow areas. These lines were the inspiration for the head badge you see on all our bikes. So, we decided to stylishly add these lines in a rich candy-blue to the top tube and bar/stem on this bike.
The 24k gold leaf elements are all applied by hand and harken back to gold leaf signage on the old sailboats Bob worked on as a young man. We think it looks spectacular against the silky, rich white and raw, gloss carbon.
Gold finish, titanium hardware adds pops of color in the sun.
RTFB!
Bob was a quiet person and certainly preferred to be at the bench working rather than on the phone talking. People would approach him at a race or ride and ask him to describe the nuances of the ride quality or the performance of one of his bikes and he would often just say “try it” and push the bike towards the person. After a while we all began to say his response to any question about the bike would be to just “ride the f***ing bike!”.
We believe that RTFB can be a great answer to many of life's challenges. Tough day at the office, a gruelling training ride, a climb that's kicking your butt. The answer to many of these challenges can often be to just go get on the bike and keep the pedals turning.
So, this one is for you Bob. RTFB!
Finished With Panache
Founded in 2006, the Parlee Paint Lab has been an integral part of the Parlee brand ever since. Located on the ground floor of our headquarters, the Parlee Paint Lab has been heralded as one of the finest bicycle painting teams in North America and a shop known for innovating new finishes on carbon fiber. The team was given free reign on the 25th Anniversary edition and you can see their work shine through in all the details.
