As part of the Custom Fabrication team your mission is to make flawless carbon fiber parts that help Parlee Cycles meet production quotas and produce bicycles that reach the highest standards.

The composite technician contributes to the construction of our performance bicycle tube-sets, built to order, using composite construction processes and high quality materials. The composite technician’s objective is to fabricate parts using epoxy impregnated carbon and/or small fiber-reinforced parts using bladder and compression molding techniques. The team member should be motivated by the opportunity to learn while building best-in-class bicycles with like-minded craftspeople.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fabricates, assembles, and performs composite layup by applying knowledge of working characteristics of bladder and compression techniques by utilizing precision instruments, machines, and equipment.

Works from order sheets and verbal instructions identifying the type and sequence of operations needed to construct a variety of tubes used to build bicycles.

Uses dexterity and hand eye coordination, including the ability to grasp and manipulate carbon to assemble and create tubes.

Prepares tooling/fixturing used for fabrication.

Maintains a clean and orderly environment and equipment by completing maintenance requirements.

Operates ovens, presses, and Autometrix, the automated cutting system.

Produces layup kits by assembling carbon parts and using the Autometrix.

Maintains kit inventory by checking stock and producing layup kits as needed.

Solid written and verbal communication skills

High School diploma or GED

Previous manufacturing experience, Preferred

Previous experience with carbon fiber or other composites, Preferred

Previous experience/knowledge of cycling/bicycles, Preferred
